Terms of Use

1. Acceptance of terms

By downloading, installing, or using ReelIQ ("the app"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

These Terms apply to ReelIQ for iOS and the website at www.getreeliq.com.

2. The service

ReelIQ is a fishing tracker for iPhone. It lets you log catches with photos, GPS, and weather conditions, and provides AI-powered insights and bite-time predictions based on your personal catch history. The app is iOS-only and requires iOS 17 or later.

The app is provided by 701 Studios, an indie iOS developer based in North Dakota, USA.

3. Account / Profile

ReelIQ does not have a traditional account system. You don't sign up, create a username, or set a password.

The app stores a local profile on your iPhone — name, home country, home state — to personalize your experience. This profile lives only on your device. It is never sent to ReelIQ.

4. Subscriptions (ReelIQ Pro)

ReelIQ is free to use for the first 10 logged catches with a limited feature set. Beyond that, ReelIQ Pro is an auto-renewable subscription that unlocks: unlimited catches, full Insights (bite score, hourly outlook, 7-day forecast), Solunar feeding times, map heatmaps, export and share, and home screen widgets.

Pricing

• Monthly plan: $4.99 USD per month, auto-renews monthly.
• Yearly plan: $29.99 USD per year, with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers, auto-renews annually.

Pricing in your local currency may differ from the USD prices listed above. The price you see at checkout in the App Store is the actual price you'll pay.

Auto-renewal terms

• Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
• Your subscription automatically renews unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
• You can manage and cancel your subscription in your Apple ID account settings, not in-app. (See section 6.)
• Free trials, if offered, automatically convert into paid subscriptions unless you cancel before the trial ends.
• Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you start a paid subscription.

5. Free trial terms

The yearly plan includes a 7-day free trial for new subscribers only.

• The trial is available only to first-time subscribers. Users who have previously subscribed (including past trials) are not eligible.
• After the 7-day trial, your subscription automatically converts into a paid yearly subscription at $29.99 USD (or local equivalent) and renews annually.
• To avoid being charged, cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, in your Apple ID account settings.
• If you start a paid subscription before the trial ends, the unused portion of the trial is forfeited.

6. Cancellation

To cancel your subscription, manage it in iOS Settings → tap your name at the top → Subscriptions → ReelIQ. There is no in-app cancellation flow because Apple manages all subscription lifecycle events.

When you cancel:

• Your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period.
• After it ends, your account reverts to the free tier (limited features).
• Your existing catches stay on your device, viewable forever — nothing is deleted, regardless of how many catches you have logged.
• To add new catches past the free 10-log limit, you will need an active subscription again.

7. Refunds

ReelIQ does not handle payments and cannot issue refunds directly. All refund requests must go through Apple.

Apple decides whether to grant the refund. We have no input or visibility into that process.

8. Acceptable use

When you use ReelIQ, please don't:

• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the app's source code.
• Use the app for illegal purposes or in violation of local laws (including fishing regulations).
• Attempt to bypass the 10-catch free-tier limit through unauthorized means.
• Disrupt or interfere with the app's functionality.
• Upload or share content that violates someone else's rights or applicable laws.

9. Intellectual property

The ReelIQ app, brand, logos, and code are owned by 701 Studios. You receive a personal, non-transferable license to use the app on your iPhone for as long as you comply with these Terms.

You retain full ownership of your catch data, photos, notes, and any content you create in the app. Since this data lives on your device, we have no claim to it.

10. AI species identification disclaimer

ReelIQ uses on-device AI to suggest fish species from photographs. This feature is provided for informational and entertainment purposes only.

AI identification is not guaranteed to be accurate. You are solely responsible for correctly identifying any fish you catch and for following all local, state, and federal fishing regulations, including species limits, size limits, and seasonal restrictions.

701 Studios is not liable for misidentification or for any consequences arising from reliance on AI species suggestions, including fines, penalties, or legal action.

11. Disclaimers

ReelIQ is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

Specifically:

• We do not guarantee that bite predictions, forecasts, or insights will result in catches.
• Weather data is supplied by Apple's Weather Service. We do not guarantee accuracy or availability.
• We do not guarantee uninterrupted service or that the app will be free of bugs, defects, or errors.
• We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement to the maximum extent permitted by law.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, 701 Studios is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost data, or lost opportunities, arising out of or relating to your use of ReelIQ.

Our total cumulative liability for any claim arising out of these Terms or your use of the app is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid for the app in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred US dollars ($100 USD).

Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations, so they may not apply to you in full.

13. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless 701 Studios and its representatives from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your misuse of the app, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or someone else's rights.

14. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to ReelIQ at any time if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the service. You can stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it.

If you cancel your Pro subscription, you keep access until the end of your current billing period and then revert to the free tier.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Dakota, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.

Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of ReelIQ will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in North Dakota, and you consent to that jurisdiction.

16. Open-source attribution

ReelIQ uses fish identification models derived from the Fishial.ai open-source project (github.com/fishial), licensed under the MIT License. The MIT License permits use, modification, and distribution with attribution. We thank the Fishial.ai team for their work on open-source fish identification.

17. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest revision. Material changes will be flagged on this page and inside the app. Continued use of ReelIQ after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
