ReelIQ Fishing App FAQ
Everything you need to know about ReelIQ — the AI fishing app for iPhone.
We have a complete step-by-step How-To guide that walks through every part of the app — getting started, logging catches, identifying species, measuring fish, Quick Log, profile and fishing data, insights and forecast, the map, widgets, and sharing. Each section has screenshots and a tip. It's the fastest way to learn the app end-to-end.
ReelIQ is a privacy-first fishing tracker for iPhone powered by on-device AI. It helps you log catches from photos in seconds, automatically captures weather and location data, and uses on-device AI to analyze your patterns and help you catch more fish. Think of it as a smart fishing journal that actually learns from your data.
Your first 10 catches are free, forever. ReelIQ Pro is then $4.99/month or $29.99/year (about $2.50/month). Pro unlocks unlimited catches, the Today bite score, full Insights and the 7-day forecast, Solunar feeding times, the catch heatmap, export and branded share cards, and home screen widgets. The yearly plan includes a 7-day free trial for new subscribers.
Two ways to try ReelIQ for free: (1) the first 10 catches are free, forever — no clock, no countdown — and you can use AI species ID, AR measurement, GPS, and weather auto-fill; (2) the yearly Pro plan includes a 7-day free trial for new subscribers, so you can test every Pro feature before being charged. The trial converts to a paid yearly subscription unless you cancel before it ends.
Yes. Manage and cancel your ReelIQ Pro subscription in iOS Settings → tap your name at the top → Subscriptions → ReelIQ. There's no penalty for cancelling — you keep Pro access until the end of your current billing period. Your fishing logs are always yours to view, even after you cancel — nothing gets deleted, regardless of how many catches you've logged. The only catch: to add new fish past the free 10-log limit, you'll need to subscribe again. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
ReelIQ is built exclusively for iPhone and designed to take full advantage of iOS features including on-device AI, augmented reality measurement, home screen widgets, Live Activities, and Dynamic Island. We're focused on delivering the best possible iPhone experience.
No. ReelIQ works immediately without any account, email, or sign-up. All your data is stored locally on your device. When we add optional iCloud backup, you'll use your existing Apple ID — no separate account needed.
Absolutely. All your catches, GPS coordinates, photos, and fishing patterns are stored locally on your iPhone. The AI runs entirely on your device using on-device AI — your data is never sent to our servers or any third party. We don't have a database of your fishing spots. We can't see your data. Period.
Most fishing apps want your data on their servers — that's their business model. ReelIQ is the opposite. Your spots stay secret, AI runs on-device, and no account is required. You also get features like AR measurement, solunar correlation analysis, and a personalized 7-day forecast that most apps don't offer.
When you snap a photo, ReelIQ's on-device AI model identifies the species instantly — no internet required. It recognizes 775 species and runs entirely on your iPhone, so it works at the dock, on the boat, or miles from cell service. The AI gets smarter with multiple angles and automatically knows which species live in your region. You'll see a confidence score for every identification.
ReelIQ analyzes your catch history to determine your ideal fishing conditions — your best temperature range, wind speed, moon phases, weather conditions, and barometric pressure. It then pulls the real 7-day weather forecast from the National Weather Service and scores each day 0-100 based on how closely it matches YOUR personal patterns. It's not a generic forecast — it's built from your data.
The solunar calendar tracks moon phases and calculates predicted feeding periods for fish based on the moon's position. Major feeding periods occur when the moon is directly overhead or underfoot (2 hours each). Minor periods occur at moonrise and moonset (1 hour each). ReelIQ calculates these daily and shows a visual timeline. It also tracks what percentage of your catches actually happen during feeding periods so you can see if it works for you.
Yes. ReelIQ creates beautiful branded share cards with your catch photo, species, weight, length, and conditions. Share them to Messages, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, email, AirDrop, or any app via the iOS share sheet. Sharing is always optional and never automatic — you choose exactly which catches to share.
ReelIQ is designed for the water. You can log catches, take photos, identify species with AI, and use AR measurement without an internet connection. The on-device fish identification model recognizes 775 species completely offline. Weather data requires a connection, but the app gracefully handles offline situations and will fetch weather data when you're back in range.
Yes. In Settings, you can add your own species, baits and lures, techniques, structure types, water bodies, and water body types. You can also set Quick Log Defaults to pre-fill your trip conditions so logging each catch takes just seconds. Choose between Imperial and Metric measurement units, and select your country and state for regional customization.
ReelIQ is a complete fish logging application — but it goes well beyond a simple journal. In addition to logging catches with photos, GPS, weather, and gear details, it analyzes your history to surface patterns, generates a personalized 7-day fishing forecast, tracks solunar feeding periods, and gives you an AR ruler for quick in-water measurements. It's a fish logging application that actually helps you fish smarter.
As a fishing AI tool, ReelIQ does two things most apps don't: it identifies 775 species from your photos using an on-device AI model that works completely offline, and it learns from your personal catch history to predict your ideal conditions. Instead of generic advice, you get a fishing AI tool that knows your best temperature range, preferred moon phases, effective baits, and productive spots — built entirely from your own data, stored privately on your iPhone.
When you don't have a thermometer handy, ReelIQ estimates water temperature automatically when you log a catch. You'll see an "Est." label so you know it's an estimate — and you can always tap it to type in the real number if you have one. It's a handy way to keep your logs complete without extra gear.
AI species identification is a suggestion only and may not be accurate. Always verify species and check local regulations.
